July 20-22, 27-29, August 3-5 – Bye, Bye Birdie
When Uncle Sam invites Conrad Birdie to join the Army, millions of American female teen-ages are ready to secede from the Union. After all, what is life without Birdie's sexy growl and nervous hips? It is also tough for Birdie's songwriting manager, who survives on ten percent of Birdie and has hopes of making his devoted secretary his devoted wife. Like a good secretary, she plots to save her boss by arranging a farewell appearance for Birdie on Ed Sullivan's TV show. The gimmick? Birdie will sing his manager's new song "One Last Kiss", and give one last kiss to one last miss. The lucky kisser is a lovely young gal, who digs the whole bit in spite of her all-but-destroyed boyfriend. Everything is on-again, off-again until the big show, the big song, and the big success. Both boys keep both girls and Birdie, off to the Army, remains first in the hearts of his fans. www.pensacolalittletheatre.com/productions/treehouse/byebyebirdie.html

August 9-19 - Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing
The Black Knights return with classic tales of treachery, vengeance, and love. Pensacola acting troupe presents Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” and “Much Ado About Nothing.” The Black Knights acting troupe, under the leadership of Jim Kerrigan, will present two classic plays by William Shakespeare, “Hamlet” and “Much Ado About Nothing.” The productions will be staged in the M.C. Blanchard Courtroom at Pensacola Little Theatre, as a fundraiser for the theatre.

In “Hamlet,” a king’s dark secret could destroy his family and the monarchy of Denmark. Prince Hamlet resents that his uncle has taken his father’s place, both on the throne and with his mother. When his father’s ghost appears and reveals the truth about his death, Hamlet plots his revenge. His uncle has his own plans for Hamlet, and an expansive swordfight will determine the fate of the royal family.

Much Ado About Nothing” offers lighter fare with a dark core. While two young lovers plan their own marriage, they take on another task – convincing his lighthearted best friend and her argumentative cousin that they are perfect for each other. The plan is working, until a vicious rumor disrupts the festivities and threatens both couples’ happiness. Jim Kerrigan founded the Black Knights in 2000, to present classic stories in a simple yet engaging format.
